The characteristics of scaffolding

Different types of engineering construction use scaffolding for different purposes. Most of the bridge supports use bowl buckle scaffolding, and some use portal scaffolding. The main structure construction floor scaffolding mostly uses fastener scaffolding. The vertical distance of the scaffolding pole is generally 1.2~1.8m; the horizontal distance is generally 0.9~1.5m.
Compared with general structures, scaffolding has the following characteristics in its working conditions:
1. The load variability is large;
2. The fastener connection node is semi-rigid, and the rigidity of the node is related to the quality of the fastener and the quality of the installation, and there is a large variation in the performance of the node;
3. There are initial defects in scaffolding structures and components, such as initial bending and corrosion of rods, erection dimensional errors, load eccentricity, etc.;
4. The connection point with the wall has a large constraint variation on the scaffolding. The research on the above problems lacks systematic accumulation and statistical data, and does not have the conditions for independent probability analysis. Therefore, the value of the structural resistance multiplied by an adjustment factor less than 1 is determined by calibration with the safety factor used in the past. Therefore, the design method adopted in this code is semi-probability and semi-empirical in essence. It is the basic condition for design calculation that scaffolding meets the construction requirements stipulated in this code.
