First, Safety Requirements for the Erection of Disc-lock Scaffolding.
Building structural safety is always the primary goal in the construction process of any project, especially for public buildings, where it is crucial to ensure structural stability during earthquakes. The safety requirements for the erection of disc-lock scaffolding are as follows:
1. Erection must be carried out according to the approved plan and on-site instructions. Cutting corners is strictly prohibited. Erection techniques must be strictly followed, and deformed or corrected uprights must not be used as construction materials.
2. During the erection process, skilled technicians must be present to provide guidance, and a safety officer must be on-site to inspect and supervise.
3. Simultaneous work at different levels is strictly prohibited during erection. Effective measures must be taken to ensure the safe transfer and use of materials, accessories, and tools. Safety sentries should be placed at traffic intersections and above and below the work area, depending on the site conditions.
4. The construction load on the working level must meet design requirements. Overloading is prohibited, and formwork, reinforcing bars, and other materials must not be piled up on the scaffolding.
5. During the use of scaffolding, it is strictly forbidden to dismantle structural members without authorization. Dismantling must be approved by the technical supervisor, and remedial measures must be determined before implementation.
6. Scaffolding should maintain a safe distance from overhead power lines. The erection of temporary power lines on the construction site and grounding and lightning protection measures for scaffolding should be implemented in accordance with the relevant provisions of the current industry standard “Safety Technical Specifications for Temporary Power Supply at Construction Sites”.
7. Regulations for working at height: ① Scaffolding erection and dismantling operations should be stopped in winds of level 6 or above, rain, snow, or heavy fog. ② Workers should use ladders to ascend and descend the scaffolding; climbing the supports is prohibited, and the use of tower cranes or cranes to lift personnel is strictly forbidden.
Second, the construction process of disc-lock scaffolding.
When installing and erecting disc-lock support frames, the uprights should be installed first, followed by the horizontal bars, and finally the diagonal bars, forming basic scaffolding units. These units are then expanded to form a complete support system. Construction Process Flow: Foundation treatment → Surveying and layout → Install bases and adjust level → Install uprights, horizontal bars, and diagonal braces → Erect according to construction drawings → Install top supports → Adjust height → Lay main and secondary joists → Install protective measures → Install formwork → Inspection, acceptance, and record keeping.
Third, Key Control Points for Disc-lock Scaffolding Erection.
1. Layout correctly according to the dimensions marked on the support frame configuration drawings. The erection range should be adjusted according to the design drawings or the client’s specifications, and corrected continuously as the support frame is erected.
2. After the foundation layout, place the adjustable bases in the corresponding positions. Pay attention to the base plate during placement; materials with uneven base plates are strictly prohibited. The base wrench can be adjusted beforehand to approximately 250mm from the base plate for easy elevation adjustment during erection. Insert the main frame sleeve of the standard base upwards onto the adjustable base, ensuring the lower edge of the standard base is completely inserted into the groove of the wrench’s bearing surface. 1. Insert the horizontal bar casting head into the small hole of the disc, ensuring the front end of the casting head abuts against the main frame tube. Then, use a wedge to tighten and secure it through the small hole.
3. After erecting the ground bracing, level the entire scaffold to ensure it is on the same horizontal plane. The horizontal deviation of the horizontal bars should not exceed 5mm. The exposed length of the adjustable base adjusting screw should not exceed 300mm, and the bottom horizontal bar of the ground bracing should not exceed 550mm from the ground.
4. Arrange the vertical diagonal bracing according to the plan requirements. Based on specifications and the actual site conditions, the vertical diagonal bracing arrangement generally follows two forms: a matrix spiral type (i.e., lattice column form) and a figure-eight symmetrical type (or V-shaped symmetrical form). Specific implementation should follow the plan.
5. Adjust and check the verticality of the scaffold as it is erected. The allowable deviation for verticality at each step (1.5m high) is ±5mm, and the allowable deviation for the overall verticality of the scaffold is ±50mm or H/1000mm (H is the overall height of the scaffold).
6. The cantilever length of the adjustable support extending beyond the top horizontal bar or double-channel steel beam must not exceed 500mm, and the exposed length of the threaded rod must not exceed 400mm. The insertion length of the adjustable support into the upright or double-channel steel beam must not be less than 200mm.
7. The structural measures, such as column clamps and ties of the scaffolding, should meet the requirements of the plan.
Fourth, Stage Inspection and Acceptance Specifications for Disc-lock Scaffolding.
After the erection height reaches the design height requirement and before pouring concrete, the following aspects of the disc-lock support frame should be checked:
1. The foundation should meet the design requirements and should be flat and firm, with no looseness or gaps between the uprights and the foundation.
2. The three-dimensional dimensions of the erected scaffolding should meet the design requirements, and the erection method and the setting of diagonal braces should comply with the specifications.
3. The cantilever length of the adjustable support and adjustable base extending beyond the horizontal bar must meet the design requirements;
4. Inspect the support frame.
5. Check if the pins of the vertical diagonal braces are tightened and parallel to the uprights; check if the pins of the horizontal braces are perpendicular to the horizontal braces.
6. Check if the installation location, quantity, and form of all members meet the design requirements;
7. All pins of the support frame must be locked; the cantilever position must be accurate; the horizontal and vertical diagonal braces at each stage must be fully installed, the pins must be securely installed, and all safety protection measures must be in place.
8. Horizontal safety nets and other corresponding safety measures must meet the requirements of the specific construction plan;
9. Construction records and quality inspection records should be timely and complete.
Fifth, Precautions for dismantling disc-lock scaffolding.
1. The scaffolding can only be dismantled after the concrete and prestressed duct grouting have reached the design strength (a strength report should be available) and are qualified.
2. The dismantling of the support frame must be verified by calculation and comply with the “Code for Acceptance of Construction Quality of Concrete Structures” (GB50204-2015) and other relevant regulations. Strictly control the formwork removal time; a formwork removal application must be submitted and approved before dismantling. The scaffolding should be dismantled according to the dismantling sequence designed in the construction plan.
3. Before dismantling the support frame, a designated person should inspect whether all materials and debris on the support frame have been cleaned up. A safety zone must be marked out before dismantling, and conspicuous warning signs must be set up. A designated person should be assigned to guard the area, and no other personnel should work below the frame during dismantling.
4. Dismantling should follow the principle of top-to-bottom, dismantling the last erected section first, and clearing one step at a time (i.e., start dismantling from the area with the largest deflection). The order of component dismantling is the reverse of the installation order; simultaneous dismantling of upper and lower sections is strictly prohibited. The dismantling sequence should be: using a multi-point, symmetrical, uniform, and slow approach, starting with the middle span and then the side spans, gradually dismantling the supports symmetrically towards the two end supports.
5. Dismantling on separate facades or simultaneously dismantling upper and lower sections is not allowed. Thorough cyclical dismantling, clearing one step at a time, and clearing one support member at a time is essential.
6. To maintain the stability of the frame during dismantling, the height-to-width ratio of the minimum remaining section must not exceed 3:1.
7. When dismantling steel pipes and fasteners, the steel pipes and fasteners must be separated. It is not permitted to transport steel pipes with fasteners attached to the ground, or to remove two steel pipes simultaneously and transport them to the ground.
8. When dismantling scaffold boards, they should be erected and transported from the outside in to prevent them from being flipped up from the inside out, causing debris to fall directly from a height and injure people.
9. During unloading, each component should be passed to the ground one by one by the workers; throwing is strictly prohibited.
10. Components transported to the ground should be promptly inspected, repaired, and maintained. Clean any contaminants from the rods and threads. Severely deformed components should be returned for repair. After inspection and repair, components should be stored according to type and specification, and properly stored.
11. When dismantling rods, workers should inform each other and coordinate their work. Loosened rods should be promptly removed and transported out to avoid accidental support or leaning.
12. Upon completion of work on the same day, a thorough inspection of the surrounding area should be conducted. If any potential hazards are found, they should be repaired promptly, or the work should continue until the constraints of the next procedure or section are met before leaving the work area.
Summary: The disc-lock scaffolding system features a series of standardized components. Based on actual construction needs, the spacing between the disc-lock nodes on the uprights is set in a 0.5m module, and the length of the horizontal bars is set in a 0.3m module, allowing for various scaffolding sizes and facilitating curved layouts. It can be erected on slopes or stepped foundations and can support stepped formwork. In addition, the disc-lock scaffolding system can be temporarily used for various other purposes, such as providing safe passageways for vehicles; double-row scaffolding; quickly erecting temporary work platforms; and, when used with hook-on ladders, rapidly forming safe, reliable, and convenient access routes. Furthermore, it can almost completely replace ordinary steel pipes in all applications.
